NROSEBC History

The New Rose of Sharon Elim Baptist Church began from The Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church’s desire for a new Pastor and from Elim Baptist Church’s desire for a permanent home. Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist had been without a spiritual leader for approximately one year. Elim Baptist Church had been searching for a permanent home for several years. After months of praying, fasting, and divine intervention it was revealed to both ministries that Dr. Ervin. M. Scott should be the one to lead the combined ministries. Each congregation met separately and voted in agreement to merge as one church. It was also agreed upon by both congregations that Dr. Ervin M. Scott would be their new pastor and the new name would be “The New Rose of Sharon Elim Baptist Church”. They united in worship as one on Sunday January 4, 2015. A few months later Dr Ervin M. Scott was installed as Pastor of The New Rose of Sharon Elim Baptist Church on April 7, 2015.

Pastor Scott and the church’s leadership met to discuss the direction the church would be moving in and how the church would serve God and God’s people. A mission statement was formed, “The New Rose of Sharon Elim Baptist Church is a place where the hurting, depressed, frustrated can find love, acceptance, hope, and forgiveness.” was adopted.

The New Rose of Sharon Elim Baptist Church strives to promote education as a key element for success to our youth.  Our George - Sarah Smith Scholarship formerly known as the Dr. E. M. Scott Scholarship pays homage to continued education.  Our Scholarship ministry provides NROSE graduating High School Seniors an earned monetary award to their Trade School, College or University of acceptance.  The process to obtain this award, has proven to be an educational opportunity in giving, support of others, love of education and paying it forward.  Pastor Scott believes in education and felt it would be remiss for the church not to help our younger generation to meet their goals.

By walking in the footsteps of faith and by having faith in God and the vision given to our Pastor, The New Rose of Sharon Elim Baptist church, has purchased property for future expansion, upgraded our environmental systems, completed structural repairs, installed a modern audio/video system, and renovated the fellowship hall including renaming it “The E. M. Scott Fellowship Hall”.  His leadership at New Rose of Sharon Elim Baptist has allowed for the ordination and licensing of several Associate ministers, increased the number of Deacons and Deaconesses, and added several ministries to continue God’s mission.

The NROSEBC is busy serving the community through nursing home visits, assisting local men and women homeless shelters, adopt a school ministry, church food bank ministry, feeding God’s people during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, providing blankets for the less fortunate, and the Angel tree ministry. In keeping with our mission statement, The New Rose of Sharon Elim Baptist Church with continued faith in God and following the inspired teachings of our Pastor, Dr. E. M. Scott we will continue to Advance God’s Kingdom.
